Miami Girls Foundation Founder Ekaterina Juskowski to Speak at WOW – Women of the World Athens 2026

Athens, Greece – From March 27 to 30, 2026, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens, in collaboration with the WOW Foundation, will host the fourth annual WOW – Women of the World Athens festival – one of the world’s largest and most influential events dedicated to women, femininities, and non‑binary people.

Recognized as the most inclusive and prominent gender‑equality festival in Greece, WOW Athens continues its mission to raise awareness of the barriers women and non‑binary individuals face across all areas of life. Rooted in local communities and connected to a global movement spanning 71 places across six continents, WOW Festivals bring together people of all genders to explore the issues shaping our collective future.

Elli Andriopoulou, CEO of the SNFCC, emphasizes the festival’s urgency and purpose:
“Gender equality is not an abstract concept – it touches every aspect of our daily lives, our relationships, our opportunities, and our sense of belonging. WOW Athens returns this year to remind us that progress is achieved when we have the courage, all of us, to continue to question what we often accept as normal.”

Ekaterina Juskowski to Represent Miami on the International Stage

This year, Ekaterina Juskowski, cultural critic, activist, and founder of Miami Girls Foundation, joins the festival’s distinguished lineup of global changemakers. She appears alongside internationally acclaimed speakers including:

  • Tarana J. Burke, founder of the Me Too movement
  • Rumena Bužarovska, celebrated author
  • Naila Kabeer, renowned gender and development scholar

The festival’s program is multidisciplinary and intersectional, featuring panel discussions, performances, workshops, exhibitions, documentary screenings, and mentorship sessions designed to foster dialogue and celebrate the ongoing journey toward gender equity. Music also plays a central role, with a featured performance by acclaimed French artist Imany, whose work blends contemporary sound with social commentary.

Juskowski’s Presentation: “The City as a State of Mind: Women, Power and the Architecture of the Urban Landscape”

In her keynote, Juskowski examines the stories cities tell about women and how those stories harden into cultural tropes that shape power, visibility, and belonging. She explores what these narratives illuminate, what they erase, and how reimagining them can transform both the physical city and the social imagination that governs it. Drawing on research in gender, migration, and urban representation, she analyzes how identity is formed not only by built environments but also by the narrative patterns embedded within urban life.

Her work connects Miami’s complex sociocultural landscape with global conversations on gender equity, revealing how storytelling, cultural production, and visibility can shift long‑standing power structures and offer new models for imagining urban life. Juskowski’s presentation investigates how these recurring narrative forms become internalized as a “state of mind,” influencing who is seen, who is heard, and who holds power. A writer, curator, and cultural observer, she moves fluidly between art, research, and social commentary to examine the emotional, political, and existential terrain of contemporary womanhood.
