Miami women are awesome! In celebration of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, the Miami Girls Foundation and Awesome Foundation Miami partnered to award a series of $1000 grants to community-changing, innovative ideas by local women.
On March 29, 2018 Miami Girls Foundation and Awesome Foundation hosted a pitch competition for Miami women and girls presenting projects that will create a positive impact within Miami communities. The participants competed for grants in three categories: 1. Awesome Idea Gran 2. Future Leaders Grant for girls and teenagers ages 8-18 y.o. 3. People’s Choice Grant made possible by the sponsors of the event.
Natalia Martinez-Kalinina of Awesome Foundation Miami said: “In our experience with Awesome Foundation MIAMI over the past 5+ years, we have seen just how surprisingly far a small infusion of funds and support can go into proving or growing a grassroots. Women in Miami are a creative, impassioned, problem-solving engine and we are excited to focus a campaign on the ideas they have to promote local innovation, bridge an opportunity gap, or showcase something in our city from a new perspective.”
Brittany Jarrin, Managing Director of Miami Girls Foundation said: “Since its founding in 2015 Miami Girls Foundation has highlighted over 100 Miami women making a positive change in their local communities and around the world. Our partnership with the Awesome Foundation for Miami Girls Are Awesome! campaign is a celebration of female leaders, role models and change makers in every neighborhood of Miami and our commitment to support their initiatives. We want to let every Miami girl know that her city cares and it is a great time to be a woman in Miami.”
Miami Girls Foundation is a non-profit “media for social change” platform allowing Miami women to tell the story of the city they love and the communities they support on a daily basis.
Awesome Foundation Miami is a part of global community advancing the interest of awesome in the universe, $1000 at a time. Each fully autonomous chapter supports awesome projects through monthly micro-grants. These micro-grants come out of pockets of the chapter’s “trustees” and are given on a no-strings-attached basis to people and groups working on awesome projects.
