Comic Cure ‘s inaugural Florida’s Funniest Female took place on May 14, 2016 in Miami. The event has a goal to showcase female comedians from across the state of Florida and is designed to benefit local non-profit organizations. We went backstage to ask the contestants about what it takes to be funny and a female at the same time.
The show’s headliner Kira Soltanovich has been a seven-year, recurring character on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno as the voice of “The Photo Booth.” She’s a series regular on the Oxygen and nationally syndicated show, Girls Behaving Badly and has also appeared on such shows as PrankStars, Hell’s Kitchen, Jimmy Kimmel Live and Fresh Baked Videos on Spike. Listen for Soltanovich as the voice of “Carla”, in the animated series, Iggy Cool. You can also catch her on the FOX shows, Red Eye and Reality Binge as a correspondent. She is the star of Showtime special Here Comes Trouble and now a new Netflix Special You Did This To Me.

Bear Webb became the Florida’s Funniest Female of 2016. She is your “ basic homosexual physical education teacher.” Bear Webb is from Coral Springs. She draws her strength from her father’s example, who “passed away from cancer and fought like a super hero.”
Tiffany Antonescu is from Orlando, Fl. She draws inspiration from her from her relationships with friends and family. At school Tiffany was called a “FedEx girl.” Ask her why!
Jennifer Hellman is looking for love everywhere she goes, from late-night outings at Red Lobster to comedy clubs around the country.
Originally from Texas, Sherrani lives and performs in Miami. Her comedy sprung from a one year of being depressed, her divorce and many life stories to go along with it.
Shira Notrika is a lawyer and a #MiamiGirl. Known as @mostlyhummus on social media, she talks about her Middle Eastern heritage and “hairitage.”
Tiffany Barbee is a martial arts teacher by day and a stand up comedian by night. Beauty pageant in her past, she doesn’t like to compete and prefers working as a team with other women.
Mariannette came to the competition from Fort Mayers. She finds inspiration in her everyday family life and often makes fun of the choices she’s made. “If I wanted to be nice to myself, I would have been a nurse like my mom.”
Desiree’s boyfriend made her choose between him and standup comedy, this is why he is an ex-boyfriend now. She is proudly single now and uses it as a motivation to be better “as a comedian”
Angela Nacca is from West Palm Beach. “I’m an Italian, do you ever notice that Italian girls never go missing?”
An actress and a model, Jillian Chiappones secretly wanted to be a comedian. After studying acting in LA, she moved to Florida to finally pour out her exaggerated sarcasm and humor.
Julie Biez is a #MiamiGirl, who has been performing stand up comedy for three years. When asked what inspired her to become a comedian, Julie says “my kids.” “Laugh all you want!” is her motto.
Amy Isherwood believes that people who have tattoos are more likely to be ready for commitment, marriage, and kids because they are used to mistakes. So she has no tattoos!
Annette Gallagher is Irish and a preacher’s daughter living in Miami – a combination that calls for a lot of humor.
Shana Manuel is an attorney by day and a stand-up comedian by night. She draws inspiration from her personal experiences of being gay, married and living in the society with racial differences.
